Nick Cannon has been keeping an eye on the presidential race, and he’s taken issue with a few remarks made by Republican White House hopeful Newt Gingrich.

“Newt Gingrich says he wants Black kids to be janitors at their schools. Is he running for President of the USA or of the KKK?” Cannon tweeted on Sunday, twisting a statement that Gingrich made in November about hiring poor children to replace unionized janitors.

“Forget about the racism,” Cannon tweeted next. “What about the child labor laws?”

The star, who attended a fundraiser for Obama earlier this month, also took aim at Gingrich for attacking President Obama. “Why can Newt call Obama the “Food Stamp President” when more people were on food stamps under Bush?” Cannon asked, adding that he “grew up on food stamps, WIC, and food shelters. Not because my family was lazy, because we were products of our environment.”  (Politico/McDevitt) PoliticsofHollywood/ Varona
