JUSTIN BIEBER PAYS TRIBUTE TO MICHAEL JACKSON AT HANDPRINT CEREMONY

Bieber-012612_01-full.jpg

Justin Bieber was one of the many famous faces who attended Michael Jackson‘s handprint ceremony in Hollywood today, and not only did he receive a warm reception from the crowd, but Michael’s daughter Paris seemed very excited to introduce him. Selena Gomez better watch her back!

Paris compared the 17-year-old to her late father, noting that he “found stardom at a very young age” and she added that MJ would have loved to mentor someone like the Biebs. When it was time to bring Justin onstage, Paris gushed, “We are all very big fans of [Justin] and his music … I know I am.”

Justin told the crowd that MJ was an “inspiration,” and he then performed “Rockin’ Robin,” a tune which the King of Pop famously covered on his first solo album. (X17)

George Clooney Plans to Sabotage Brad Pitt’s Career

George Clooney and Brad PittJeff Vespa/Getty;

George Clooney is notorious forplaying pranks on his costars while filming. But he also has his sights set on his friends – specifically Brad Pitt, who’s the frequent butt of his jokes

“I have done some horrible things to people. Truly, truly horrible,” Clooney, 50, admits on the season premiere of Bravo’s Inside the Actors Studio (Jan. 31, 7 p.m. ET). “I’m working on one right now for Brad Pitt. It might end his career.”

“I owe him, so I’m getting him,” he added.

If the prank comes to fruition, Pitt, 48, will find himself in good company. The long list of Clooney’s other practical joke victims includes their Ocean’s Twelve costar Julia Roberts

“I’m a big believer in making sets fun in general,” Clooney tells Inside the Actors Studio host James Lipton.

So what exactly does Clooney have up his sleeve for his pal?

“I’ve been working on it for two years,” Clooney told the audience. “I’m not going to tell you what it is, but just know, I got it.”  (People/Raftery)

Joe Anderson

IFC Films has closed a deal to take North American rights to director Antonio Campos’ dark drama Simon Killer.

Campos also wrote the script for the project, which was produced by Josh Mond, Sean Durkin andMatt Palmieri. UTA and CAA handled the sale for the filmmakers.

THR film critic Todd McCarthy noted in his reviewthat the sexually explicit film could receive an NC-17 rating.

On Wednesday, IFC Films purchased North American rights to the comedy Liberal Arts for seven figures. (TheHollywoodReporter/Miller/Fernandez)

Drake wants to play Obama

The script hasn’t arrived yet, but Drake is getting ready to play President Barack Obama on the big screen, according to Rolling Stone:

“I hope somebody makes a movie about Obama’s life soon because I could play him,” the rapper and actor told VH1 News at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this week. “That’s the goal. I watch all the addresses. Anytime I see him on TV, I don’t change the channel. I definitely pay attention and listen to the inflections of his voice. If you ask anyone who knows me, I’m pretty good at impressions.” (Politico/McDevitt)

DIDDY Grammy After Party Tickets

Diddy post-Grammy party invitations
If you wanna party with Diddy at the Playboy Mansion, you better be freakin’ LOADED — because TMZ has learned, tickets for the rapper’s post-Grammys after party top out around $50,000 each.

The cheapest ticket is a slightly more affordable $1,500 and they go up from there — $15,000, $25,000 … all the way up to $50,000 — depending on what services you may require at the black tie affair.

Sources connected with the party promoters tell TMZ, the $50,000 Monster Cabana ticket gets you 2 cabanas, VIP admission for 20 people, buffet dinner, open bar, free bottle service … and 15 dedicated female promotional models.

Thankfully, it’s all for a good cause — the party’s proceeds will go to benefit the Angelwish Foundation for children afflicted by HIV/AIDS. (TMZ)

Barrymore: Obama’s speech was ‘incredible’

Actress Drew Barrymore, who’s promoting a new movie and now planning a wedding, has had a busy month. But she still sat down to watch President Obama give his State of the Union address on Tuesday.

“I thought his speech was incredible,” Barrymore told POLITICO at the Washington premiere of “Big Miracle” on Wednesday. The actress, wearing a floor-length patterned dress and her new engagement ring, praised Obama’s accomplishments, saying, “I think extraordinary things are being done.”

Hesitant to share more of her opinions (unlike some other celebs who come into town) Barrymore said, “I don’t want to be hated for my political beliefs, I have them, but I’m not going to stand on a political soapbox.”

The one issue Barrymore does speak up about, however, is voting. The actress directed a documentary about youth voting called “The Best Place to Start” in 2004, which she plans to re-release this year. (Politico/McDevitt)

Alec Baldwin not ruling out a political run

Alec Baldwin has said he won’t run for mayor of New York in 2013, but he apparently still has political aspirations.

“I do want to run for office one day,” the actor told CNN’s Piers Morgan in an interview that aired Wednesday, “but what it would be, and when and how, is still something I’m trying to think very seriously about.”

Baldwin had two reasons for putting off his decision: He likes the work he’s doing now and doesn’t think the timing is right.

“There’s so many different things that happen in the political world over the course of two years that, in that amount of time, maybe the-not-too distant future I’ll survey that again and think about, is there an opportunity for me?” he said. (Politico/McDevitt)

Brad Pitt: I support Obama, ‘no question’

Brad Pitt doesn’t deny that he was unusually quiet when meeting the president in 2009, as Jodi Kantor reported in “The Obamas.”

“I probably was — you don’t want to impose on a busy man,” the actor tells The Hollywood Reporter.

Pitt, who stopped by the White House again two weeks ago, says he’s still a big fan of the president and calls himself “an Obama supporter, no question.”

“But it doesn’t mean there’s nothing to learn from the other side,” Pitt said, telling the mag that he closely watched a recent Republican debate. (Politico/McDevitt)

Oscar Nominee Brad Pitt On The Unmentionables: Marriage, Politics and Religion

2012 Issue 4 Brad Pitt Cover

Try to set up an interview with Brad Pitt, and you instantly plunge into his almost Dada-esque world. After all, where do you go? A restaurant rendez-vous would devolve into a scrum of gawkers and gapers; his suggestion that we meet at this publication’s office creates such a stir among jaded journalists, it is rapidly nixed; and Pitt’s house in the Hollywood Hills is apparently out of bounds, reserved for his partner, Angelina Jolie, and their six kids.

So, The Hollywood Reporter executive editor, features, Steven Galloway found himself feeling like a participant in the witness protection program, ensconced in a 14th-floor-suite at Hollywood’s W Hotel Jan. 20, because Pitt’s Cadillac Escaladecan make a quick in-and-out to avoid the paparazzi thirsting to behold him.On this particular morning media reports surfaced revealing that police had interviewed his bodyguard about human limbs scattered near the Hollywood sign. Andd, he can’t help being bemused. “I was watching CNN, and they said, ‘Brad Pitt’s home!’ and, ‘Brad Pitt’s bodyguard!’ ” he laughs in disbelief. “I’m like: ‘Why? Why?’ ”The report is nonsense, of course: His security chief happened to pass a policeman who asked if Pitt’s surveillance cameras had recorded anything strange, which led to CNN’s proclamation: “Police interview Brad Pitt’s bodyguard, search Hollywood Hills for more body parts.”
